The Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of Southern Africa (Seifsa), in partnership with the Mining Equipment Manufacturers of South Africa (Memsa), hosted the yearly Metals and Engineering Sector Awards for Excellence, in Randburg, on November 17. Pamodzi once again received the Most Transformed Company Award, having stood out for the consistent and successful implementation of its transformation strategy over the past five years, which culminated in it achieving a level 1 status on its scorecard for 2021.

The judges were especially impressed by its successful apprenticeship programme and enterprise and supplier development initiative.

Twenty-five years into our democracy, the manufacturing sector remains one of the least transformed in the South African economy. Sustainable transformation remains a key economic and social imperative, and one cannot over-emphasise the need for and the importance of continuing to pursue the transformation agenda. This is especially important in the manufacturing industry, where effective transformation can unlock new opportunities for companies and assist in improving competitiveness. SEIFSA acknowledges the importance of transformation and seeks to reward the company that has made the greatest strides in this regard within our sector.
